Looking great, Steve! Smooth as a baby's butt. You're way ahead of me. I take it that you ended up planking the whole thing?

Thanks . Yea. Got carried away. Got started and couldn't stop. Took almost two weeks to plank, fill and prime. Almost done. Just a few spots that need some touch up. Can't decide how much to plank on the wings. I notice Dave D. seems to do all some times and others he doesn't. I wonder what factors cause him to go all the way or not plank some areas??? Planking the entire wing will be a big job.......

Very nice! I think I've finally decided on planking from the leading edge to the top of the curve of the wing rib and from where the wing meets the fuselage to at least the first wing rib. Check my Stuka, Corsair, and P-40 builds. On these kits the bottom of the wing is flat so I don't plank that but I do add wood where something will later attach to. IE: rockets and bombs. I have planked the entire top wing only rarely and only on smaller planes although I am planning to do that with all the Diels kits since they are a manageable size. Planking the top front of the wing makes the entire wing look more realistic and planking at the wing root allows easier covering and a solid base to glue to the fuselage plus it provides support if fillets are to be added. Solid wing tips just simply look better because that's the way they actually are. I find that each time I build I encounter something I might want to do differently just to see if it works or what it looks like. Cheap thrills! ;-)

Thanks for the info Dave. I'll give the wing covering a shot using your plan of attack. I feel I've learned a lot on my first three builds. Having fun as well.
