Creosotewind | 26-Sep-16 17:22 | I took a drawing class in high school (many, many years ago) and the teacher showed us how to use the grid. Later on I learned that renaissance artists would make frames with wire grids to aid them in painting life scenes. A few years back I went to an exhibit on ancient Egypt at the Phoenix Art Museum. It had some stone excavations on exhibit showing artwork chisled into the block. Some images had deep relief cuts, other parts in-between, and some were just drawings. I was surprised to see they also used grids and pounce patterns to transfer their artwork. You are carrying on a long line of art history DD. |
David Duckett | 26-Sep-16 18:55 | Clever Egyptians! It's especially important when painting something realistic because as I paint with the canvas flat, it would be easy to get the perspective wrong. |
