Upper wing attached. Prop and nose cone just need some paint.

Looking great Steve, you really did a beautiful job all the way around. The wood grain just really sets this one off. Excellant job, and scratch built too!!

How did you go about painting the wood grain?

I primed it with gray then covered the whole area with a light yellow-brown (I was aiming for honey color). Then I brushed on one layer of a medium brown, allowing it to cover the light yellow-brown in some areas and not covering it in other areas. For this part I brushed with the narrow side of a flat brush so I would get thin lines of paint but could flip to the wide side to blur/blend as needed. The last color was Raw Umber straight from the tube to add some of the darker areas and the panel lines. I got carried away with the panel lines near the nose and needed to remove one, which it why there is a light colored blur between the first two panel lines.

Vermeer would be proud!

Vermeer the painter?

Yep! Johannes Vermeer.

I believe Delft or any artist would be proud.
