Started to wrap cowl in aluminium tape.Once wrapped i'll burnish it.

I learned about this tape after three builds with Al roof flashing. Looks super. Remember when you burnish it ...it is thin. Practice first!

Thanks John, I will keep that in mind.

Lovely work, wingspanner.

After burnishing you MUST paint the Al with a covering. Clear acrylic sealant, or eventually it will tarnish, and the effect will be lost to oxidation.

Having trouble getting the alu tape around the cheeks in front of picture.
John M Oshust08-Apr-08 18:56
I think you have to piece it,cut templates out of foil, then use their shape with the tape...a suggestion.
wingspanner08-Apr-08 19:01
The problem that I had was that the cheeks have a concave curve then a convex curve where the front section of the wing meets the fuselage. On larger models the curve of airfoil section of the wing is fully cut out of the cheeks, but, on this model the wing tapers away from the fuselage at the front. I am going to recut and sand the cheeks and cover in parts.

Trust me...trail and error templates of paper...hell it worked on three of my planes with Al sheeting!
