BriandKilby, you keep getting better with every build. How did you like this kit? I have about 4 Diels kits at home and am leaning in their direction. Look like they have a cornucopia of detail. Good lumber too.

thanks for all the applause. it's for display, i'll have to move another one from the one of the shelves to the ceiling to make room for the arrow. i liked building it lukebozek, the only thing is you have to fashion the details such as props and spinners by carving wood and i'm not a real experienced wood worker, but i take guillows pieces and use them so i get by. thanks again.

Try the carving thing with the sharpest blades you can find. Very relaxing and my dog loves eating balsa shavings. At one point I had an inch of shavings on the floor, went out for a minute and I noticed that the pile was down. Good fiber I guess. I just carved the landing gear nacelles for an IL-2 for a Golden Age kit. Worst plastic I have ever seen, so I did the parts in wood.

Hi. For carving props and other stuff, try some Basswood. it's a bit more dense and carves and sands smoother. Kinda like Jelutong, but more readily available at the LHS. And as lukebozek1 stated, sharpness is key. But how it's sharpened can make a good Whittlin' knife into a great one.
