Thanks, DD. Seems to be the same aircraft as in the picture I have, but a lot clearer photo. Looks like they collected all the F3F's available for background to the Buffalo.

It is the same aircraft. The scheme is also called razzle dazzle.

Thank you, David. The photo made me curious so I looked it up.This P-51 Mustang was used to test in 1942 a dazzle paint scheme designed to confuse opponent's perception of the aircraft's orientation in flight. The pattern was painted in black and white and was identical on both sides of the fuselage. The upper surfaces of the wings, tail, and fuselage were painted in Olive Drab. A single US insignia was painted on the upper port wing.
