Naugahyde hit the market in '29, since this one was built in '30 it could have been used, but the blue just doesn't seem right. All old pics are black and white. Any suggestions?

I meant to add that this is the way it looks now sitting in the New England Air Museum.

Vinyl shelf paper maybe??????????

I'd bet you'd be surprised at how colorful life was in the B/W era. The blue naugahyde could easily have been used in the plane. Remember, pilots could be a very flamboyant bunch of attention getters.

Try to find a used old purse at a yard sale or used clothing store like Goodfellows or Salvation Army.

OR; The fancy-smancy paper shelves at your local Hobby Lobby.

Don't mean to detract from the colors being discussed, but that hand crank has my curiosity piqued. Is it to the elevator trim?

Skye, just saw your question. Answer is: I don't know. Nothing is marked in the pictures that I have and to complicate things 2 extra knobs show up on the right side of the instrument panel in one or 2 pictures. I am doing the blue.

Skye.... Oh, that's the thingamabob.
Don C14-Dec-16 15:31
Must be, because it engages the doodad.
Skyediamonds198514-Dec-16 18:41
Wow! Impressed with your nomenclature for that "thingamabob" and "doodad." Very intriguing.

We do sometimes get a bit technical here.
