scigs30, Image # 18386 | 25 Jun 10 14:36 | I was able to finish the Spitfire today and will add it to my Comet WWII collection. These are a great series, fun easy builds that fly great. I made my own decals and the decal paper was a little thinner than I normally use, but they came out ok. I first sprayed glosscote where the decals are placed, added the decals and then shot dullcote. The canopy was cut out from the pattern on the plans and glued in place with Canopy Glue. She will fly without the landing gear. |
CPN, Comment for image # 18378 | 25 Jun 10 05:29 | Every once in a while it can't hurt to leave one unpainted - your structures are perfectly straight and true - why hide that? My models need all the paint they can get. From time to time I'll leave a model of a plane that was finished as bare or polished aluminum unpainted and add the accents like decals, antiglare panels, wingwalks, control surface lines etc. P-51s are good candidates for this treatment. Silver paint magnifies every wrinkle to the point where it usually (in my case) looks worse painted. |
