I agree with Don C. Looks like a Great Lakes trainer.

Great Lakes Trainer?

Thank you. I believe our brains are hard wired to try to make sense of what we see but i paint abstracts which don't really have an identifiable subject. The only objective is to make something pleasing to the eye and the titles are really no more than a means of identification. When I look at my works hanging and stacked throughout the house I see boxes of paint which allow me to spend hours enjoying them, just letting my eyes wander without really seeing anything except colors. Reality lives in the next room.

Whew, turn it 90 deg clock wise, it's driving my brain nuts. Awesome though!

Thank you. The dark gray is the south rim.

Great painting David - where is the viewpoint, is it from the North Rim?

Leftover paint....I rarely drink. I'll take your word about the smell:-(
Huey V77, Comment for image # 3678829 Sep 16 18:32
Dave, when I saw your B24 build, it reminded me of a smell. Place your self standing on the bomb bay center rail, close your eyes and smell 5606 mixed with avfuel and a durty closet. That's what a B24 smells like. 5606 is hydrolic fluid.

Or, too much from the previous night!

Ah, night at the museum?

Fortunately it's a kit. There is simply no way I would ever try to build it from plans/scratch.

Once again, an example of astonishing attention to detail!

I was also taught to either turn the drawing upside down or look at it in a mirror to get a fresh look and to notice any errors in perspective.

Thanks! She has finished her treatment and the cancer is in remission. Her hair has started to grow back and today she's in Hawaii with her parents where her dad is on a business trip.

The smile says it all. Good work, DD.

Clever Egyptians! It's especially important when painting something realistic because as I paint with the canvas flat, it would be easy to get the perspective wrong.
Creosotewind, Comment for image # 3670826 Sep 16 17:22
I took a drawing class in high school (many, many years ago) and the teacher showed us how to use the grid. Later on I learned that renaissance artists would make frames with wire grids to aid them in painting life scenes. A few years back I went to an exhibit on ancient Egypt at the Phoenix Art Museum. It had some stone excavations on exhibit showing artwork chisled into the block. Some images had deep relief cuts, other parts in-between, and some were just drawings. I was surprised to see they also used grids and pounce patterns to transfer their artwork. You are carrying on a long line of art history DD.
