When dry, this came out nice and tight! |

Wings, and tail feathers getting a coat of wood glue to seal them. |

No, all my r/c has been with the plastic Solite covering. We'll see how this goes! |

Looks good James. Have you made an R/C plane with tissue befor? Best of luck. |

After trimming the lower covering, it's time to do the top covering. You can see some extra lightening on the trailing edge on this picture. |

White tissue from the Guillows Hurricane kit (my next one!) for the rudder. |

This is the red tissue that came with the kit. I brushed the glue onto the frame, sanded it lightly, let it dry, then applied another coat of glue and immediately put the tissue on the wet glue. |

Covering the lower wing. You can see my glass of 50/50 Elmers wood glue / water mix. |

Topwing aileron actuators. The ailerons are glued to the metal rod, and pushing and pulling the end of the torque rod moves the aileron up and down. |

Showing the lightened horizontal tail feathers. They will be operated by a pull-pull cable system, for maximum lightness. |

Ah James, you rascal, I'll get you back for that comment. ...but on a serious note, you shouldn't have to remove too many of the wires in the cable. I removed two or three on my Hellcat and haven't noticed anything too bad...well, there was that time it did like 16 rolls without me trying to, but I just figured it to be a radio glitch. ;-) |

Good tip Mike, thanks for that. Do you think the reduced strength of the cable will cause in flight failures? I guess I will have to do a lot of testing for I get FAA approval. :) John, I don't know what Mike said either, although he designs incredible flying models, I'm not sure he knows what everything he says means... |

You guys make me fell so stupid, as I do not what you are talking about! |

I think sullivan cable will work just fine too actually... I'm made a discovery while using Sullivan cable not long ago actually, something I think would help a lot of folks using it. Nothing earth shattering, but it sure helps when you have too much friction between the cable and outter tube of Sullivan cables due to a lot of bends or sharp bends. If it seems the servo is working too hard or binding, and that the ailerons aren't going back to center b/c of too much friction, just unravel one of the smaller wires that make up the cable. It might take a few wires to get the smooth action you're after, but it sure helps.

Mike, I'm going to try a 4.1g servo in the top wing, and sullivan cable, ala your Hellcat. I didn't want to go for full-length ailerons, and my torque rod thing didn't work. I think the guage of wire I used was too small, and it had too much slop in the action. |

James, looking good...did you decide on the ailerons yet? The lens motor should give it more than enough kick for sure! |
