I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

No, it's one of the old Lens RC ones, Mike. 17 turns, I think. John, yes, you can take the motor out of an old CD-ROM, rewire it with thicker gauge wire, and use it. Very quiet (if used direct drive), and very efficient. http://www.gobrushless.com

James did you rewire the CD rom motor? If so what was the gauge used and windings. I have a rewound one but it cannot do the job.

James, I noticed you either did not get around to it or you possibly missed it, you don't want to forget gleuing some interlocking supports in where your bottom and top wing struts intersect. (I forgot and had to tear the covering off)

I just checked and my Yegor is pinned thru a flipper to my building board. Am I correct in assuming that the motor to power this plane will me from a CD rom? Interesting someting to do with my old hard drives!

Yes, hired security (currently at rest), designed to keep Russian frogmen away from the latest in Fokker technology. Think I might be looking elsewhere though, progress hasn't been swift around here, and I'm sure I saw a glimpse of a black wet suit on the balcony last night.

Do I see, in the very bottom right lower corner, I pink bunny slipper, and 2 little beady eyes looking out?

CD-ROM motor now mounted, upper and lower wing leading edges sanded. AUW currently coming out as 4.4oz. Seems to balance with the battery behind the firewall, and the servos in the cockpit.

Ah - well, it is sort of just sitting there in that same condition at the moment (although the tail plane is built now too). I have to stop slacking and get the aileron linkages worked out, now you've helped me out with them, Mike!

Looks great James! When do we get some updates? ;-)

Coming along nicely James.

Placed together because I'm impatient to see how it's going to look! And also because I needed a 3D model to try and work out how to hook up the ailerons, rudder and elevator.

Feel free to ask any questions James, either here or by e-mail. No construction pics I'm afraid but there is a close-up of the middle wing/cockpit area. All up weight was 70g.

Thanks Chris. Since you are the Dr.1 master, I may be asking questions from time to time. I'm not sure how the middle wing joins the fuse at the moment. Not sure if I asked you before, but do you have any idea of the completed weight of your model? Any construction pics?

Great idea James!

Two different ways of dealing with a Guillow's! Yours are 3d fine art. I hope this one soars; I think it's going to be a challenge to make it do so.
David Duckett, Comment for image # 292719 May 07 13:10
It is a concept I am not familiar with but that's why yours soar and mine sit.
jgood, Image # 292719 May 07 12:06

Fuse basically together now. I've done an 'anti Duckett' on it, and actually removed wood from a Guillow's kit! Sorry David. :) As can be seen, I've milled out some of the wood from the rear formers to keep weight down. You can also see the lack of side k

Here is a change I am making to the kit. Instead of using the heavy side keels, I've replaced them with stringers. At the front, the stringer is doubled up for extra strength, the rear 2/3rds is just a single. I'm holding the original side keel up for com

Rudder. It looks a bit odd because I've milled out a lot of the wood in the frame to save some weight. The Dr.1 is notoriously tail heavy, so tiny amounts saved here should actually help. The alternative was to bend laminated strips around the outline and

It's enough to make me want to build one, always a favorite, but with the one from CD Wheatly and now this one from the Master of Many Wings, MMW, I'll forever give up any desire to build it and simply enjoy it as you build it.
