That's a really nice piece of work. |

Thank you. Yes we are both OK. Thankfully the airbags did not deploy,as they are the ones on recall for the last 5 years that put out shrapnel when they go off. |

That is nice work. Thanks for the demo. |

Glad everyone is OK. You could have just bought a new one - didn't need to kill Bambi as an excuse.:) I think more deer are killed on the 25 miles of highway between here and Kalispell than by hunters in the same area. |

Oh Yea, I forget to say that need to flip the sheet of balsa end-for-end for each strip. That's how you get the double beveled piece. |

Oh Well. Found a new one up the road. Pick it up on Saturday. Wife is just a little paranoid about driving around after sundown now. |

This is how I terminated the ends of the planks that met on the centerline. When attaching the planks, I applied a bead of thinned titebond glue to one mating edge with a small paintbrush the placed a dab of medium viscosity CA to each former and squeezed the planks tight and pinned them. The medium viscosity CA (gap-filling) gives you enough time to lay the plank on and pin it. If you don't dawdle :-) |

The bevels are switched on alternating strips. I made some planks that were over 20 inches long for the P-47. |

Well, that sucks! |

Here is the angle achieved for the planking. BTW, depending on how big of radius the former has, you can strip the balsa up to 3/8" wide. The piece shown is about 3/16" wide. |
rayl, Image # 40005 | 15 Mar 18 14:36 |
Gives you a cutting angle like such. |

Anyway: Hot-glues a piece of 1/8" X 1/4" to the base of the balsa stripper. |

Yep, Spring time in NW Iowa. The deer are on the move. Totalled out the Camry last Sunday nite. |

Cactus grow faster than infilling! |
Don C, Comment for image # 40000 | 15 Mar 18 13:18 |
Does it go faster than infilling? So how long are the "planks"? And could you post a picture of the balsa stripper? It sure looks smooth. |

Actually, it's about 27 long w/34 " WS (from Clive Smalley "Dogfight Duo" plans). I tried something new this time; Planking using my Master Airscrew balsa stripper with a spacer under it to cut bevels so that the planking does not have the "V" groove between the planks. Works Good. It is a bubble-top "D" that I will finish in the P-47M prototype colors with natural metal and yellow zinc chromate cowl and tail. I am going to try to install silver monokote on it. |

Looks quite reasonable. Nice job on the infilling. I had a hard time trying to get that type of picture for the A-26. Looks to be around 20" long. Plans are for a razorback, but yours looks like a "D". |
