Rivets under paint. I used the smallest rivets on the sheet so the bigger ones, that will be applied to the fuselage should look even better. When the silver paint dries (forever) I will try a wash of black water-based paint and dry-brush them to see how they "pop".

These are engine compartment vent louvers in the raw. Used some 1/8" dowel, planed it flat on two sides and drew them down. It's going to be a little bit fiddly to sand them out.

These are the MicoMark "O" scale rivets applied to a wing float. We will see what they look like under a coat of RustOleum silver enamel paint.

Yes, pretty close. Been there a few times.

Winnipeg is a lot like Minneapolis where I grew up - really a nice place - in the summer. Great zoo! Enjoy the beach.

Had to remind me about that, darn.

Yeah, but he still has to return to Winnipeg!

Same here, getting really tired of it now. Twice now, most of the snow melted in the last 2 weeks, then we get a big dumping to whiten things all up again. That's okay as next Saturday I will sitting on a hot beach in the Caribbean, for the next several days.

Ours melted. Fortunately it's warm enough that it isn't piling up like yours.

Must be getting a bit unwelcome.

Always lurking in the "WINGS"!

Speaking of "O's" again, welcome back John "O."
Skyediamonds1985, Comment for image # 3574921 Mar 16 16:59
Speaking of "O's", I never understood why rails have designated letters to denote the scale, plastic kits of tanks and figures are generally done in 1/35th, and the wooden kits are wide open and referred as a ratio such as 1/12th or something like that.
John M Oshust, Comment for image # 3574921 Mar 16 14:46
I did not know that "O" had a scale. I was worried it had something to do with me. I finally figured out that this has nothing to do with me. Now I feel better !

My mistake. "O" it is. I still get mixed up between the two scales when it comes to trains. Sorry about that. On the note of rivets and DD's carrier films reference, these decals all come on one sheet (you still get two separate sheets). This means you can cut a long (or short) length strip of rivets to your choice of size to fit the job. One observation: Because they are thin strips, the decals can be finicky and will tend to fold over themselves if not handled carefully. Also, keep an eye on them after the application as sometimes they will winkle a bit during the drying process. The rewards are worth it. I used the "O" scale and so far, they worked for me. Thanks for clarifying that!

By the way, your Loening looks great!
rayl, Comment for image # 3574920 Mar 16 18:42
Sky: are you sure about that? "HO" is about 1/87 scale while "O" scale is 1/48.
Skyediamonds1985, Comment for image # 3574920 Mar 16 18:39
Rayl, thank you for that compliment!! Make sure to use Micro Set to help settle the decals. Be sure to order the "HO" size as they're the larger scale than "O." You'll get two sheets. They really work. If painted over, the carrier film should disappear.
