Looking good, DD. These really are/were sturdy kits for c/l flying.

I have block sanded the aluminum cowling, a lot, and used Squadron White Putty to fill in the low areas. Later today I'll give it a shot of Rustoleum Filler and Primer.

He also straightened the areas around the top and side intakes.

I took it to a jewelry repair man who cut out the hole for the landing gear.

It's designed for U-Control. There are several foamies available and I think they are fairly close in size.

There's a lot of sanding required on this model but fortunately it was 89* yesterday so it could be done outside.

I added 1/16" wood to each side of the fin/rudder and sanded it to airfoil.

It has the wings and tail feathers of a P-51 and looking straight on it looks like an F-86:-) Not surprising as they were all built by North American.

It's getting the stance of a T28 now......

The tail feathers are next. They are made of 1/4" stock and require only sanding to proper airfoil.

The plywood firewall was trimmed to fit inside the aluminum cowl. Once installed, the wood will be sanded to match the cowl. The front landing gear was installed the same way as the main gear.
