Lindy, how did you do the metal to look corrugated? I'm trying to do it on my DHC-2 Beaver.

Oh yeah, so true Don C. It would be nice to know who built it, but like David Duckett says, its probably older than 60 years and the builder is probably passed :(

Good save, Lindy. I know how you feel about saving it.

I never heard of Lindy kits, but the box and former is still pretty common. There's a lot of work involved.
David Duckett, Comment for image # 3306807 Feb 15 07:05
Sixty years ago I was building Berkeley kits with Testors wood cement or Duco which was nearly the same. I think this kit is earlier than that.

It is also very interesting for me to see how far modeling techniques have advanced over the years. To me, this would have been a nightmare to build, especially without the use of CA glue.

I am so glad to have rescued it from the burn pile. It was even more special to me since I happen to have an original flight manual to match. I shall leave it as is and currently have it hanging from the ceiling in our restaurant. Should be in the LHS but I want it closer to home:)

I agree with your leaving it as is. Many folks find the bare bones just as attractive as a completed model. Several years ago I put a BB model of an Inland Sport built from a Flyline kit in the LHS and someone stole it when the shop went out of business.

They dont make em like this anymore. Very difficult construction. But so cool. Hope everyone would find it as interesting as I do.

another page from the Curtiss manual

This is an old original pilots manual I found at a flea market 25 years ago. I think they launched these off battleships

This is the way I got it. Someone took allot of time to get it this far. I thought about finishing it, but decided to leave it the way it is. Probably 60 years old ? So cool.
Lindy, Image # 3306706 Feb 15 21:51

It is a Curtiss SO3.

I rescued this old kit off Craigslist

Very clean. Wow.
Lindy, Comment for image # 3266613 Dec 14 16:36
I have to fly it. Balsa dust comes right off.
jgood, Comment for image # 3266613 Dec 14 14:24
Looks like the best place to work! How do you keep the balsa dust off the polished Luscombe!? :)
