My humble camera limits what I can do. Even in bright sunshine it's hard to get a clear image. I flew for an hour to get these few images. Most are just a blur or the plane is not even in the frame.

The motor is 6 strands of 1/16 inch, braided, which is strong for this size plane and good for a 6 inch propellor. 500 turns gives maybe 12 seconds of power, which is a lot when you are risking potentially a fantastic crash.

I put a little varnish in the socket for strength, and I glued paper to the top of the gear so the wood doesn't split when using. I also stick the gear in the whole with some glue stick glue, which still allows it to be removed later.

The details of rubber and lube are a lot to get into here, I know just the basics. You can buy lube online and install the motor and it will allow 500 turns many times in a few days without breaking or needing more lube. After a few days you will need to pull the motor out. Even with careful lube, if you put a lot of turns (700-1200) the motor will break after zero or a couple flights. Power depends on propeller size and strength of motor, you can read about it online.

MLRILEY - How do you do this? how do you attach your removable landing gear? - wooden dowel into a snug hole? Do you break in your rubber and lube it first? What size rubber and how many strands? Do you stretch it out and then wind it into the nose? How many turns on the rubber and how long is the power run? Did you install trimming and turning tabs on the plane? - where and what size?

I fixed the little bit of damage caused by flying, it's back to 100% I will let it sit and look nice for at least a while.

I don't know a lot about flying. You can braid 4 or 6 strands of 1/16 rubber into a motor, if you braid you should order a hook to attach it to the prop. Depending on the size of the prop and power of motor you will get 1600-2400 RPM, so, 500 turns will get you 12-18 seconds of power which is enough for a fairly eventful flight. Look up lube and hardware stuff online.

Short 3 minute flying session, the nose assembly for the prop broke. It was made out of wood. Otherwise plane is fine. I can craft a new one in an hour or so.
