The cockpit is finally finished. i probably spent a good 25 hrs on it, fortunately the Tomahawk, the first of the p-40s, had the simplest cockpit.

The instrument panel is finished including the machine gun cocking mechanisms that are seen on the above right and left side of the instrument panel. The foot controls are attached to the bottom of the instrument panel.

I like the Diels kits because of their constant 1/24th scale, which keeps the size within my comfort level of 16 to 24 inch wingspan and that they have as many WWII kits as they do.

I covered the tail feathers with 1/32 sheet, which is sanded and doped. I also made balsa wing tips. I'm not sure the balsa tail components was a good idea but I like the balsa wingtips.

The DF loop is copper wire twisted to shape around a paint brush handle and the mount is basswood carved to shape.

I really enjoyed painting this scheme. The swastikas came from a sheet of swastikas of different sizes and the 107 was from the decal scrap box, the crosses are all kit decals.
