SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Flying | 12-Apr-08 03:49 | | Views : 1644 | The One Nite 28 motor RPM was too low for flight. The ESC low voltage would kick in if I opened the throttle too wide. It looks like I'll just have to lower the low voltage protect, time my flights, and kill the motor before the radio dies. |
SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Flying | 12-Apr-08 03:36 | | Views : 1683 | Went flying today but the wind was too strong for the lighter models. Here is the SIG Cub getting tossed onto its side. |
SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Build | 22-Mar-08 23:15 | | Views : 1828 | SIG Cub that I threw together today. It should weigh an ounce, but it weighs 1.59 oz due to sheet wood that weighs 40 lbs/cu.ft! Somehwere a guy restoring the roof of a Model A is wondering why he got balsa instead of the ironwood he ordered. |
SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Flying | 22-Mar-08 18:57 | | Views : 1540 | This picture pretty much sums up how my R/C mod flies. AUW is 5.82 ounces, which makes the wing loading 6 oz/ft^2 (nearly as much as the MM Hellcat). Mostly to blame is that I have 3x110 mAh NiCd for the motor and 4x300 mAh NiMh for the radio and servo. |
SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Build | 13-Mar-08 04:54 | | Views : 1820 | AUW is 120 grams, it was 62g with rubber FF and 92g with electric FF. I am eyeballing some undeveloped commercial property just around the corner from my house, one of the grassy lots might be just the ticket for flying this plane. |
SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Build | 13-Mar-08 04:50 | | Views : 1563 | Rudder is attached with CA hinges and is connected to a servo borrowed from the MM Hellcat. All that remains is to install the ESC when it gets here. I could run it w/o the ESC but having throttle control and a reliable BEC voltage is worth the 3 grams. |

SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Build | 12-Mar-08 05:05 | | Views : 732 | The new 32" wing is covered and ready for water shrinking. The kit tissue was insufficient to cover the whole wing a second time, so I switched over to Easy Built tissue for the wing and changed colors for fun. |
SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Build | 12-Mar-08 05:03 | | Views : 785 | The old wing was quickly repaired then cleft in twain to allow for insertion of this newly built extension. The additional wing area is to compensate for the added weight of the RCC gear. |
SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Build | 11-Mar-08 20:49 | | Views : 809 | The stabilizer and rudder were several feet from the rest of the wreckage, partlially hidden by some brush and leaves. |
SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Build | 11-Mar-08 20:11 | | Views : 832 | This is about like I found it, except the wing was still attached and it was soaking wet. Damage suggests the tail took a heavy blow. In fact, I just realized the stabilizer is missing, I will have to go look for it, I wouldn't want to litter. |
