With the cockpit patterns glued down it was a simple and easy task to cut around the patterns with a new sharp #11 blade to cut out the openings, after which I used a rolled up piece of fine sand paper to cleaan the edges. It went smoother than I thought

The fuselage has been papered and has had the cockpit openening patterns cut from the plans and glued in place with the same diluted white glue I used for papering.

The fuselage is assembled and finished with several coats of sanding sealer and is now ready for papering. This will be the first time I have papered over large sections of wood.

I added a number gussets to the elavator and extra stringers to the rudder for strength, both have been sanded and doped and are ready for covering.. The wing braces have been sanded and doped.

The lower fuselage sides are togther and saded and doped.The top of the fuselage is covered with 1/32 balsa sheet in four section and has been filled and coated with wood sealer and sanded smooth.

The instructions call for laying down a protecive sheet atop of the finished side and build the second side on top of the finished side. An interesting way of duplicating an exact second side.

Because it is slab sided the Westwing Widgeon has far few parts to cut out. the kit contains decals, vacu wheels, excellent balsa, and a single complete instructions with a singe sheet of plans.
