No room on the couch (davenport) to sit down. You can bet I did not walk through the house with it assembled. I could barely handle the 3' wingspan of the Piper Cub without hitting something. Good thing I'm not a pilot.

Great stuff for adhering clear parts. I think it is the same stuff that watchmakers use to attach crystals. I bought it at a hobby store.

The basic structure is from the model. I cut out the small windows and filled them with clear plastic, probably from some of those packages that are impossible to open without a nuclear device. I made the reflector from mirror paper from the art store. It took a while to figure out the shape, but it seems to look ok. The base is from that PVC box I cut apart. The slots slide over the wooden frame in the fuselage.

Paint for the rocket rails. Access panels are card stock (again). I tried using aluminum tape, but it was too thin and didn't show well under the paint.

For a first effort it was ok, a noble try. But compared to Ted's work, it paled in comparison.

...and filled the voids with florist's foam. Cut and sanded to get the shape I wanted. Then I filled with light spackle, sealed with primer and then painted.

The model didn't come with a tail cone. I tried to find something off the shelf, but no luck. I asked Freeway Flyer (Ted) if he could make one on his lathe (what modeler on this site has he not assisted?) In the interim, I tried something new for me, that I found on a paper modeler's site.

The platforms with the missile rails. The one on top is attached to the hardpoiint stand, and has two blank rods for missiles.

Start of the missle platform. One rough and the other starting the shaping.

Final pieces. The paper pattern and the kit supplied piece. You can see it doesn't follow the shape of the real pieces. I made two sets. The first set turned out to be too big. This set was just right. Oh, that stain on the longer "football?", my blood. Careful around sharp objects, kids.
