Ready for more sanding, sealing, finish sanding, and paint. Hopefully I can get it finished in time and it will look close enough to the real deal.

My propeller conundrum - I need a scale prop by the end of the day and have only this 10" prop that can be cut down or I can try to carve something decent in the next few hours. All reasonable suggestions are welcome.

I also repaired the wing bolt hole by adding a paper tube like is used on the MM Hellcat. I had intended to do this from the start, but got ahead of myself when covering the wing.

My simple fix; an epoxy and plywood sandwich. Tape was used to keep the epoxy from leaking out the bottom while a clamp help the sandwich till the epoxy set up. While not what I would do if I was still in the building phase, I think it will do the trick.

Close up view from the rear of the landing gear wire. There was little to prevent the wires from rotating, maybe I was supposed to put the wires on the other side of the spar. I think the best fix is to sandwich with plywood.

On later tries I was able to pull up in time, but the field was so small I was constantly turning to avoid the trees. It seems like it wanted to roll right and left aileron would hardly turn/roll it left at all, I'll have to make sure the wing is level.

I have never hand launched so I was a little slow in getting on the elevator and she smacked into the ground before I could pull up. The force of the "landing" was enough to knock the landing gear wire loose so I'll have to rework them.

Here we are at the soccer field sized area ringed with maple trees. There is no hard surface for ROG so I have to hand launch and just try to land level on the grass.

In town there was almost no wind, but out at the field it was 5-10MPH with gusts to about 15MPH so I was unable to maiden and only took the Tyro up for about a minute. On the way home I stopped at this small field.

The smell of fresh paint and drying canopy glue fills the air as she wait for the dawn.

Covering the fuselage added only 2.1 grams. The paint test looks good so I am going to jump right into painting the rudder and the anti-glare area in front of the cockpit so that I can glue on the canopy.

The going has been slow, but I think it is safe to say that the most challenging half is done.
