Dale1416 | Guillows Series 2000 - B17 Flying Fortress | Build | 19-Nov-12 22:31 | | Views : 1609 | This is what I’ve been working on for the last few weeks….a Guillow’s B-17, kit 2002, with a 40 inch wingspan. Actually this isn’t my build. A friend started this kit about 15-20 years ago. He built the framework, covered it with olive drab MonoKote, and then became frustrated fitting the vacuum form parts, etc. Four years ago I built a couple model airplanes for him, and then he asked if I wanted to finish the B-17. Since I don’t care for the MonoKote on scale models, or taking over someone else’s build problems, I declined. This Air Force veteran’s health is failing, so when he asked me this year if I would finish the B-17 for him, I decided to do what I could with it, without undoing his work. So here are some pics of the completed plane. He was happy with it, so that made it all worthwhile. |
