After a blustery weekend we finally got a calm morning so I took the Tyro to the field for more touch and go practice. Sorry about the blur, the camera defaulted to an ISO of 80, I will try again soon.

I need to tidy this mess and cut a hole in the firewall for the motor wires, then it is on to covering. Weight is 6.78 lbs so AUW should be that plus the weight of a Monokote covering. It's also a touch nose heavy so I'll move the batteries or motor aft.

Gluing on the tail feathers. I suppose I could have used a cardboard box as a jig, but this all should work ok.

Testing the motor on the fuselage with 15x10 prop. I only got 380 watts but Motocalc estimated 540 watts. With the 14x10 I got 325 W and Motocalc said 420 W. The 14" barely clears and the 15" hits the floor so I may have to swap wheels.

A strong West wind forced me to work off the East end of the runway, which is kinda where the sun comes up. After losing the plane in the sun several times and a wild ride in turbulent air I called it quits before even finishing half a battery pack.

I decided to start putting slow blow fuses on my servos to protect against a failed servo. On these little HS-55's I'm using a 1 amp rating so I should never blow it under normal use. Has anyone ever done something like this before? Will it even help?

Notice my CA is sealed up and I am using PVA to repair the Tyro. After 3 months of symptoms I have determined I am having similar reactions as Xanadu and John G.

Poppy, I found these laying around and think maybe you can find a use for them. I'm going to mail them out tomorrow morning so you should get them Friday or maybe Saturday at the latest.

I have been getting my hiney kicked by Poppy's canopy despite all I learned from my first victim, DD. The plan is to fill the wood grain with Hobbylite then shrink down a thin layer of plastic to provide a smooth surface for the canopy.

Well, it was over due. After a touch-n-go I was turning and climbing when I saw a helicopter in my planned path so I reversed my turn but got into a step turn and didn't get the wings leveled in time. A wing tip touched the ground and the fuse tore off.
