SteveM | Molt Models Tyro | Build | 30-Mar-08 02:49 | | Views : 656 | Rudder and elevator servos, rudder servo also steers the front wheel. |
SteveM | Molt Models Tyro | Build | 30-Mar-08 02:46 | | Views : 727 | Fuselage is covered and much of the hardware is installed. |
SteveM | Molt Models Tyro | Build | 28-Mar-08 20:32 | | Views : 647 | The clear covering helped me get the servos installed w/o having to cut off any of the covering as I was going to do. I read to apply a very thin coat of paint and allow to dry 24 hours, so here goes. The thin coat of paint added about a gram of weight. |
SteveM | Molt Models Tyro | Build | 27-Mar-08 23:00 | | Views : 653 | Wing weighed 39.4 grams before covering and is 50.3 grams fully covered, which works out to around 34 gsm. I need to patch some small areas with wrinkles, but that is ok as I need to get access to install the forgotten servos. :o |
SteveM | Molt Models Tyro | Build | 27-Mar-08 17:41 | | Views : 733 | Aileron covering has been fixed. The test block has been painted with 4 layers if thinned Liquitex. Brush marks are minimal, but an airbrush would be better. |
SteveM | Molt Models Tyro | Build | 27-Mar-08 15:54 | | Views : 741 | 45F here and it was hailing an hour ago, but you won't hear me complain. 70-80F is good for me and 90F or higher is just uncalled for. |

SteveM | Molt Models Tyro | Build | 27-Mar-08 14:45 | | Views : 663 | Now we can tell that the aileron on the right was the first one I did and the one on the left is nearly perfect. The one on the right won't shrink anymore, but a little more heat on the left aileron should clear up those little wrinkles. |
SteveM | Molt Models Tyro | Build | 27-Mar-08 14:43 | | Views : 717 | Covering the ailerons with Doculam (1.5 mil laminating film). Everything looks great from this angle, but that is the danger of a clear covering. |
SteveM | Molt Models Tyro | Build | 26-Mar-08 23:46 | | Views : 707 | Joining the wing halves and adding dihedral. Now I'm glad I got the 36" long building board, at the time I wasn't planning on building a plane with a 36.25" wingspan. |
SteveM | Molt Models Tyro | Parked | 26-Mar-08 22:51 | | Views : 779 | I ended up with a left and a right wing half, that's a good sign. Rather than add webbing between spars the wing is actually build around an I-beam. These wings are very strong and have no droop. |
SteveM | Molt Models Tyro | Build | 26-Mar-08 22:49 | | Views : 796 | Left wing construction, most joints have no glue yet. |
SteveM | Molt Models Tyro | Build | 24-Mar-08 03:18 | | Views : 712 | The fuselage frame is complete for now, on to the wing. Small hatch is held on by magnets. |
