This morning was all about touch and goes with the Tyro, but I took a break to shoot a photo of it in flight. If I was thinking I would have had my gf shoot pictures Saturday morning.

I think it is a little tail heavy as it tends to porpoise right after launching. I still managed to get in a flight that lasted around 10 seconds.

I finally got around to repainting the Tyro. The Bird Dog came along as there was little to no wind earlier this morning.

Huh, that didn't take long. Notice I have resorted to mending small rips with scotch tape. I got this glued back together managed several touch and go's without breaking it again. On the way home I bought a spruce stick from the LHS.

The first coat of resin is sanded down and 1/8" sheet has been applied around all edges to ensure a little excess plastic to work with when demolding and trimming to fit the plane. The purple disk is some extra resin, it is hard as a rock.

Poppy's canopy mold arrived today, shown here inside the kit canopy and with the stock plans. The finishing resin is said to provide a heat resistant surface to protect the wood from dents and dings and to sand to a smooth finish.

Spent some time this morning practicing landings. On one landing I was not straight and messed up my touch down and it bounced and went nose first into the ground. I was actually able to glue and keep flying, break it again, re-glue, and repeat.

I was trying to land on the runway but was a little off to one side and clipped this little bank with the prop, breaking the motor shaft. I turned the Tyro around for this picture, but that's about where it came to rest.

This morning I got to the field at 0630 so it was still cool but the rising sun forced me to practice my landings headed from West to East. As you can see, my aim is better with the desensitised controls.

The little Tyro groans under the weight of the Aero-Star fuse. Tape is about all that is holding it together, tomorrow I will finish gluing it. Now I can start to measure and plan where to put the battery pack and how to get easy access to it.

Rudder and vertical stabilizer (dorsal fin) assembled and edges sanded to shape. Up next is the large fuselage. I think of it as the point of no return as I can't just put it back in the box and must find a place to keep it.
