After advice I shifted to acrylic. Thanks Dave Duckett. It really worked a lot better. Several thin coats as suggested.

Mirror and fuel lines come later. The fuel guage isa glass pipette from a doctor friend with a fine wire inside.

First color coat yesterday. Running into the nitrate/butyrate problem. No butyrate thinner. Suggestions?

Tried pop can and balsa before settling on the cardstock. If yo put the green side in the paint covers more easily. Tin foil and toilet pape Do make good seat cushions. Used a strip of solder to stiffen the sides where there's a tube in the real thing.

I used Mod Podge for the gloss and solder for the hinge. Switches are wire and solder.
