Thanks to my lack of skill at the sticks James will have to make a "Rebuild" picture category just for me. I got into a spiral near the ground again and didn't get out of it like usual.

The stabilizer and elevator are built and sanded to shape. They weigh 2.9 ounces and are more than half the 36" wingspan of the Tyro. I used to think I had a big building board.

These LiFe batteries charge quickly. From start to 20 seconds the current slowly ramps to 4 amps where it stays till around 5.5 minutes. At this point 90% of the 700 mAh charge has been added then the charger slowly finishes in "balancing" mode.

Poppy - I learned that not only should I stay 2-3 mistakes from the ground, but also from the trees. I also learned that flying faster made it easier to control, especially in the wind.

Barnstormer - Yes, I will rebuild! When you get bucked off you just have to dust yourself off and get back on. Notice the right wingtip is unpainted and my nemesis, the oak tree, is in the background.

I ran out of time to post this last night. The wingtip and all wood forward of the spar are all new.

They're not perfectly straight, but good enough.

On impact the ESC plug came out of the radio, but the ESC and watt meter still had power. These pins took a beating from plugs yanking out, but they can be straightened.

I didn't think the guy would be able to get to my plane, but he took one look at the tree and said "no problem". He climed as high as he could then used a long pole to slip a noose around the nose of the fuse then lowered it down to me.

Ah yes, right near the top. As one RC pilot of 38+ years told me - next time crash lower in the tree.

Oh yah, you all know what this pictures means. Obviusly pilot error was involved, but in my defense there was an issue with the wind blowing my off track then I couldn't seem to get power or lift enough to avoid the oak tree.

Flights on the new batteries were 20-23 minutes with 900-1000 mAh drawn from the battery. Recharges took 20 minutes with 90% of the recharge done in the first 13 minutes. This was about as high as I care to go for now.
