...and here I added three strips of 3/32" to the top of the frame and covered it to there. I painted the inside of the added wood black.

I'm using 3/32" instead of the 1/16" top and bottom spars. The middle one is 1/16" x 1/8". Wingtips will be solid. This is about as easy as it gets, folks.
