Landing gear and upper center wing strut that fits between the pilot and observer. The black “metal” braces were done with .005 styrene superglued, sanded, and painted gloss black.

Taube after painting with Vallejo ModelAir Light Sand. The warping section of the wings was shot first with just a light coat to keep it transparent. I then masked and painted the rest until opaque. Several references I’ve seen have the warping part transparent, while several do not. I liked the effect of being able to see all the ribs I put into the wings, so I went with the transparent. The Decals were created with white waterslide inject decal paper. After printing, I coat them with clear gloss enamel to set the ink. I painted the wings with gloss enamel to get the decals to adhere, and used decal set to slightly melt the decal onto the wing. I need to finish the wings by painting over with matt finish to remove the gloss. I still have decals to apply to the top and bottom rudder.

Landing gear: Wheels where modeled and printed. Used very small copper tubing to create struts. I’m using copper because it can be soldered easily, and I’m not worried about weight. The diameter is a little thinking than scale, but I also needed something that would hold the model. All the struts have a 1/16” bamboo skewer as a base. I thought that 1/16” balsa wouldn’t be strong enough to hold up the model, based in the ever increasing weight.

Intake and exhaust side. The exhaust pipes are not installed. I’ll do that after I paint the cowling since they would be in the way otherwise.
