I like to keep the surfaces planar and edges sharp while shaping to help get everything "Even Steven" and also to see the "Lines" better before blending.

After gazing at John O's beautiful prop for the Stearman, I got the hankerin' to break out the ol' whittlin' knife for the exhast fairings.

Exhaust Nozzle detail. Used the same .005" Al for the Faux turbine blades. Made a forming die and squeezed the bejeevs out of it against some 1/16" Bass in my machine vise. If someone plans to build one of these (umm... Jerry maybe?) I've got some extra blade thingees. I could send in the mail. The Dia. of Al + paper roll = the hole laser cut in F7A & F7B.

Found some nice reference on the engine that was to propel this aircraft.

Since I had my machines setup after finishing an unrelated project I started making some components for the jet exhaust nozzles. Still need the tubes, support vanes and faked turbine blades.

I've been playing around with some thin .005" aluminum sheet metal forming to make a one piece exhaust duct. This is the first play effort and it looks promising. Overworked it though without annealing so it cracked. Plus I did it with what I had on hand (get a good laugh at the "Tools" I used, but hey, it worked, surprised me!). Sorry, used the part for a glue tray, hence the stick stuck.

BV-170. There's about 40 BV designs as well as other aircraft and vehicles here:http://www.the-blueprints.com/frontpage/ Many are just o.k. but to get a good reference for general shape and perusing for ideas.

This is where the BV will be flying. That is the landing surface (rock strewn hard pack or pokey bushes) that will pretty much decide which material I cover with. I really want to use Esaki, but....

I also cleared the material on F1 between the stringers to allow the infill to continue to the nose block (uo next). Plus it was a whole lot easier!
