Dale1416 | Dumas Kit #208, Walnut Tiger Moth | Parked | 21-Jun-10 10:58 | | Views : 1842 | This is actually Dumas Kit #201...."Mr. Mulligan". I remember seeing a beautiful model on Virtual Aerodrome done in the burgundy and gold paint scheme. I liked it so much, I decided this "Mr. Mulligan" plane kit with it's radial engine, would be a good model for that color combination. After 2 coats of clear dope, I brushed on Testor's 1144 Gold enamel for the trim color. Then I masked off the gold and spray painted the entire model with 2 coats of Krylon gloss burgundy. I had some gold colored pin-striping that I had used on my Dodge Dakota truck years ago, so I used this to trim up "Mr. Mulligan". The engine cowl was a painstaking job, but it sets off the model. |

I built this model for a friend who purchased the kit over 30 years ago, but never got around to building it. In fact, the B-29 model that I recently finished was from this same gentleman who asked me to build it for him. The yellowed instruction sheet is dated 1980. The kit is produced by Monogram, and is reportedly the largest plastic scale model airplane ever produced. This was a fun build and a beautiful model. |
