Dale1416Dumas Kit #208, Walnut Tiger MothParked21-Jun-10 10:32

This is actually a Dumas Kit called "Mr Mulligan". It's a walnut scale. The kit number is Dumas #201. I couldn't find this kit on the site, which is why it is listed under this particular Dumas Kit and not the correct one.

On the left, myself as a small boy in the 1940's displaying my first B-29 (a "Cleveland" kit). On the right, here I am today, almost 65+ years later with my second B-29. This one, a rare Guillows Series 2000. Bigger boy, bigger toy...my how time flies!

Japanese float-plane - Nakayima Rufe. I added twice as many stringers and ribs to these kits; painted with Krylon spray Hunter Green gloss.

Last but not least....The Spirit of St. Louis in walnut scale by Dumas. Sorry for monopolizing all this time while trying to get my virtual hanger completely uploaded. It took a lot longer than I thought it was going to. Now it's back to a more leisurely pace. Time to go build some more models!

The Curtis Hawk kit was supposed to be U.S. Army trainer, but I wanted to try masking a different paint scheme. With these colors, it became a John Deere plane as an after thought....ready to do some crop dusting!

This Curtis Hawk is a walnut scale by Dumas aircraft. Walnut scale = all wing spans are 17 1/2". these Dumas kits feature laser cut parts and come in 22 different airplane model kits, but cost more than the 500 series Guillows. They are light weight, rubber powered flying models with very little scale detail - such as no instrument panel, scale propeller, etc. I usually add extra stringers and it is fun to add scale details.

This is actually a Dumas kit, but I couldn't find that aircraft listed as one of the selections. This Ford Tri-Motor is in walnut scale by Dumas.

The "N" numbers just didn't look right below the stripe, so I modified the layout slightly and Embedded the "N" number in the horizontal strip. My son owns a real Cherokee 140 which he flies for recreation when he's not flying professionally. The original intent was to paint the model just like his, but that would have required 3 colors, and lots of masking to replicate the complicated paint scheme on his. In the end, I just went with the decals provided by Guillows.
