These are some other wheels I made or found. Metal washers on bolts worked well but then cut into the aluminum. The white wheel worked well. It is a roller from a sliding shower door. Almost there, but not quite yet. I think I have a better solution and will post a bit later. |

For the spent shell evac slide, they give you some plastic tubing that you need to dunk in hot water and form to shape. And then cut to size. Seemed to risky for me to play with fire and water. I tested making one out of aluminum and this wheel, which is aluminum rod and cardboard disks. As a first step it worked out fine. |

One side completed. 72 grooves per side. Only 504 more grooves to cut. I may want to finish one and cast it in resin. |

The tires look ok as supplied, but need the side grooves added. The instructions state, "For added detail, wheel may be notched at corners of tread as partially indicated on full scale drawing." They don't say how to do it. So I made this template and, using a spindle, set it over the tire (or tyre, for you folks across the pond) and mark loctions using a pencil lead. Ink shows up better, but the lead seams to file smoother. |

A little tweaking yet. The tow bar should rest at the horizontal. Just some trimming of the wood. |
