One year, my sister was in the mode of homemade birthday presents, so she asked me what I would like. I loaned her the color pic of N15011 and a Christmas card with a Cherokee picture on it and she came up with this painting, one of my most cherished birthday gifts over the years.

N150ll bundled up to return home from its last flight. It sat in a storage hanger for a few months until our boss sold it for salvage. One day, while visiting the remains, we decided to borrow a gas cap and the ID placard which survive today as a memento of some very happy days over a third of a century ago.

Later in 1975 on a rental flight a customer was a bit careless in his fuel management and set N15011 down in a pine thicket just short of the runway. He and his family walked away from the landing with minor injuries.

On Feb 7 1975, we made our first long cross country flight in N15011. A three legged trip from Pineville, Louisiana to Eldorado, Arkansas then to Longview, Texas and returning to Pineville. The picture was taken at Elcorado. Our last flight in N5011 was April 19, 1975, after having logged 48 hours in the craft.

We first met Cherokee N15011 on an intro flight at Esler Field Louisiana on June 27, 1974. We began taking flight lessons and on Aug 8, 1974 we made our first solo flight in this craft.

Seeing the Musketeers under construction, I've decided to return to work on this Cherokee that we started for a Guillows cookoff some years ago. Gonna make it into a 'swinger' and display model of a plane that I have some fond memories of.

The "N" numbers just didn't look right below the stripe, so I modified the layout slightly and Embedded the "N" number in the horizontal strip. My son owns a real Cherokee 140 which he flies for recreation when he's not flying professionally. The original intent was to paint the model just like his, but that would have required 3 colors, and lots of masking to replicate the complicated paint scheme on his. In the end, I just went with the decals provided by Guillows.
