My P-51's canopy dimples. The canopy was probably formed in the last two years so I doubt newer is better in this case.

No way I can fly this bird and shoot pictures, I had to set my camera to automatically take pictures at intervals.

Clear, calm, cold, and about an hour before anyone else shows up to fly. They all flew fine and I only broke two of three props. I had the Aero-Star at full throttle and high rates doing rolls, loops, and Immelmann turns, then I came down for a touch and go but caught the prop on the runway and so much ice flew off I thought I had broken something (other than the prop). After I got home I changed the wheels on the Aero-Star and have almost 3/4" more ground clearance which should help with the prop breakage.

All put back together and ready to fly again. AUW is 9.3 ounces and the CG is right where it should be with no need to shove the battery way up into the nose. The ESC was getting a little warm from just doing a little taxiing about the floor so I may cut open some holes for airflow.

It's been longer than I would have liked, but with the motor and ESC issues sorted out I'm working on the repairs. A few more hours and I should be ready to fly again. With the old motor I had to add nose weight which drove the weight to 9 oz, with the new motor AUW is about 9.3 ounces, but no nose weight is required and I don't think I'll have any troubles with a heavy tail.

The repaired ESC arrived today with a note saying to contact CC as they think my setup is causing the overheating problems. Sure enough, an identical, known to be good ESC gets hot when used with this motor.

AMA prints include card stock and decals, though the decal part borders on useless. There were three single sided sheets for the mosquito for a cost of $7.20 (AMA members get a 10% discount).

From time to time there is a discussion of how to get plans for discontinued Guillow's kits. I finally decided to try it out and placed an order with the AMA plans service, 7 days after dropping the form into the mail the plans arrived at my door.

I was operating well within the limits of a quality brand ESC so I was a little disappointed that it failed. My first thought was that I had overloaded the BEC, but it looks to me like at least one of these motor FETs got very hot.
