Finally the top panel is glued in place and now we have a fully enclosed fuselage box which can be carved and sanded into the cylindrical form of the B-29.

Nowadays, when building a Guillows shelf model, additional wood is added to the underside as in this F-84.

Normally, in constructing the Guillows shelf model the kit procedure would be to attach the other fuselage side and nose formers and then the fuselage top sheet. This would then finish the fuselage frame and it would be sanded to shape. This will leave the fuselage with a flat bottom that needs to covered with a paper panel cut from the plan. When we built these kits as a kid we built them per the plan, but the flat bottom fuselage seemed to me that it could be improved upon.

I sat on the bench for a few moments and thoughtfully read all of the text inscribed in the marble, paid my respects for the fallen heros and said a prayer and made a promise to heed the comment at the end: WE WILL NOT FORGET. After being at the memorial, David, I can understand your passion and effort of being a part of this experience. By keeping these guys in our memory and soul, we help keep them alive in a way. BTW, the Buffs were flying that day so we had the opportunity of seeing these magnificent birds in their intended element.

I crossed the street and continued down path to the B-52s near the end of the row of aircraft on display and found the Combat Skyspot Memorial.

About ten days ago, Norma and I made a trip to Louisiana to visit family and friends in Alexandria, so I talked Norma into including a brief side trip to Shreveport so I could visit the Barksdale Global Power Museum. On our last visit a few years ago, I remembered seeing a B-29 there. It is still there.
