I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

This is the 3-view of the landing gear which is nothing like the plans.

I have been stopped on the building of the motor for the last six weeks because I can not get the three set screws I need. Have been to 3 HomeDepos, Lowes and 4 Ace Hardware. They have been on order for last six weeks. I decided I needed to work on the landing gear and this is what the plans call for.

Start the build of the wings with extra stringers added per DD. Will be making a number of changes rods to attach wings to root and for landing gear wihich will not be done per plans.

Well I got ahead of myself by starting the build. Should have checked the fuselage against the 3-view. Turns out it is too long with the motor I am building for it and the profile is a little off. Not sure what I will do.

Thanks heywooood. I had actually tried a variation on your suggestion. I bought stainless set screws and painted them black followed with a light sanding. This is a picture of one of the two remaining P-26's. This is from the Planes of Fame in Chino, CA. It is the first plane you see upon entering the museum.

I had hoped that the black push rods would pop against the silver and black of the cylinders but it didn't. Not sure what I am going to do. Might try painting the push rods silver.
