I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

The saga continues...

Put a coat of lightweight, white floral spray on it as primer to show up any damage or rough spots. Boy, did it! The dictum that "If a model sits on the bench without being worked on for any length of time it will acquire damage." was proven again. There were several small holes and tears in the covering that were not apparent in clear coat that need to be fixed.

Dispite unanticipated delays progress has been made.

This iteration will be flown to check the aerodynamics. There will be a few changes for the production version, some stringers will be repositioned and I have to make a new mold plug for the nose block since the countours of the first one ( last version) were slightly off. There are a few small corrections needed to the wing structure.to make it easier to build and strengthen the landing gear attachment for the static builders and those who cant resist and RC conversion. The vertical tail will also have a few detail changes. That's why you build prototypes. If this were a one off, just for me, I would be satisfied with it as is.

Fuselage needed a few corrections, changed some formers positions in the rear of the fuselage to remove a weak spot and move the rear peg forward

Drafting on a computer doesn't make up for what you forget. In the first drawings I forgot to add the side keel lock tabs. They're in the current version.

Since many modelers will cut a 24 X 36 plan into sections for convenience on thier building board I decided to print them that way. The plans in the 1:16 scale series will be printed on two 12 X 36 strips.

This is what the first cut looks like. There have been some detail changes since this picture. The stringers aren't on it in the photo because parts of it were stuffed with styrofoam to make patterns for molds of the composite parts. If the compsite material I am working with doesn't work out for production the molded parts will be styrene. I'm going old school with styrofoam and plaster for the patterns because I don't have a 3-D printer. The kit will have a scale stabilizer and a 120% oversize "flying" stabilizer. This one looks as though it will fly fine with the scale one. The P-6E, like most biplanes, flies fine with a scale stabilizer. More to come!

You've never build a wing like this but it reproduces the peculiar dihedral of the 520. In this photo there us no glue on anything but the three center section ribs and the wing tips glued to the trailing edges. It's easier than it looks.

With the ingerlocking side keels it builds straight as long as you start on a level building board. a level building board.

The right angle tools to install the formers in left side of the fuselage are part of the kit.

I have another kit in the works, a Dewoitine D.520. It will be released in June along with the P-6E. They are 1:16 scale and use the same construction techniques, all laser cut and interlocking.
