This is a bad image, but after cutting way the portions of the formers, I painted the forward fuselage black. This way, The slotted faux engine side wouldn't have balsa wood peeking through

Marked the areas to be cut away while preserving the overall formers and shape of the forward fuselage.

Seeing that the fuselage was pretty much already framed up, I didn't want to cut away too much of the formers/bulkheads. If I did cut away the formers, then there would be nothing left to support the outside covering. So, I decided upon a crazy idea. You can easily see from this sample what I'm about to do.
