Close-up of landing gear. I was originally going to 3D print the gear, but after seeing how small they would be, I figured the printed parts wouldn’t be strong enough, so opted for soldered brass components.

Putting lots of hours in the Bugatti. Both wing frames and landing gear done.

Port side view of fuse progress from Saturday and Sunday. Framing 90% complete. So far my plans have worked really well, if a little overbuilt. I did have a little interference issues with some of the parts, but nothing that wasn’t easily worked out with a little cutting. I’m pretty happy with the plans and build so far!

Work begins in earnest on the Bugatti! Went through the five step workflow of converting my plans to something my 2D laser etcher could use (1. In Photoshop, cut and paste parts to a drawing the size of the balsa, 2. Fill parts in black and save as TIFF, 3. Open file in InkScape, convert to vector graphics and save as DXF file, 4. Open file in LibraCAD, scale drawing and save as version of DXF that the next tool can use, 5. Open file in BenCutLaser, assign cutting tools and send drawing to Laser etcher to cut the parts). This is the first part being cut by the laser. Took about 4 hours to cut all the fuse and wing parts.

Working on the second sheet of plans for the Bugatti. I think I have just about all the info I need on them now.
