Creosotewind | ACE M-4 Sherman Tank | Parked | 04-Jun-11 19:25 | | Views : 678 | I was at the Atlanta Airport and spent time at this exhibit. The planes are all 1/30 scale so there aren't any production parts. Really nice work. |
Creosotewind | ACE M-4 Sherman Tank | Parked | 17-May-11 15:07 | | Views : 801 | The starboard side showing more applique armor. It was added over places where the shells were located for added protection. The thin strips with the holes are for adding sand skirts over the tracks. The Marine tank I am depicting didn't have the skirts, just the holders. |
Creosotewind | ACE M-4 Sherman Tank | Parked | 17-May-11 14:51 | | Views : 707 | The tools are in place. I'll glue them in once I paint the tank. I want to get some photos of the completed tank in its raw state before I paint. |

Creosotewind | ACE M-4 Sherman Tank | Parked | 17-May-11 14:48 | | Views : 778 | More pieces added including bolts and places to store the tools. The tool brackets and the light guards are heavy card stock. The light guards were soaked in water to loosen the fibers and hold the shape. They later were "painted" with white glue to stiffen the shapes. |

Creosotewind | ACE M-4 Sherman Tank | Parked | 16-Mar-11 14:43 | | Views : 813 | All 6 are done. Now I just need to add them to the tank. Oh, and cut out the track. Should be fun. |
Creosotewind | ACE M-4 Sherman Tank | Parked | 16-Mar-11 14:38 | | Views : 825 | To the left is my first attempt. The "grill" was too heavy so I tried again. Each bogie has about 35 pieces when completed. |
Creosotewind | ACE M-4 Sherman Tank | Parked | 16-Mar-11 14:34 | | Views : 678 | Starting on the bogies for the Sherman. In the lower right is the kit part. They would have you add some 1/16" pieces to the front, drive a nail through each end piece, through the wheel and into the tank side. Not to realistic. The top two are the front and back, my solution. I couldn't figure out how to cut the compound shapes so I made them out of cut and folded paper. You can see the patterns |
Creosotewind | ACE M-4 Sherman Tank | Parked | 21-Feb-11 12:04 | | Views : 675 | More details on the backside, including bolts on the return wheel gears and an access door for the engine. That may end up getting covered by a deflector shield that diesel powered Sherman tanks used to keep exhaust fumes from getting sucked back into the intake filters. |
