Biplane Guy, I 've been down the slope for decades (Used to be a plastic modeler). Example here ( a week of my life that I'll never get back) is of the rigging clevises for my Loening. Each clevis took 9 separate operations and three jigs to make. But it's FUN!!!

Boy, I am glad that the wings don't have any rivets! Used up 1 1/2 sheets of the Micromark rivets to get to this point. I thnik that it will take about another 30 inches of rivets to finish up.

Rivets under paint. I used the smallest rivets on the sheet so the bigger ones, that will be applied to the fuselage should look even better. When the silver paint dries (forever) I will try a wash of black water-based paint and dry-brush them to see how they "pop".

These are engine compartment vent louvers in the raw. Used some 1/8" dowel, planed it flat on two sides and drew them down. It's going to be a little bit fiddly to sand them out.

These are the MicoMark "O" scale rivets applied to a wing float. We will see what they look like under a coat of RustOleum silver enamel paint.

All of the "metal" structures primed and sanded to 600 grit W&D. Now to add the little details like rivets (from MicroMark after seeing how they looked on Sky's SE5A) and a few things like louvers and hand-holds.

I can't belive that I found a picture of the original Alaskan Survey emblem! Now I have to figure out how to manipulate it in "Paint" to make the background white.

I tend to get into a OCD mode when reasearching a plane. It always seems that you find the perfect detail shot AFTER you need it. Last Sunday I finally happened to find a good picture of the float that showed that I had the wheel wells in the wrong shape. A little styrene and body putty filled in the erroneous shape so now I can move on.

Finished adding some details to the hull. Movie line from someone comes to mind: "A man's got ta know his limitations". Laid on the first coat of Liquatex primer. I am impressed with the way that the Liquatex goes on and covers; Thanks for the recommendation DD.
