David Duckett | 20-Nov-20 10:16 | The reason a P-47was so big w was to accommodate the supercharger. |
bobgood | 20-Nov-20 10:48 | Amazing - how on earth did they manage to pack that lot in such a good looking aeroplane? |
BriandKilby | 20-Nov-20 11:51 | dd, i don't know if this is true, but i heard the p-47, the hellcat and the corsair used the same radial engine. |
David Duckett | 20-Nov-20 15:59 | That’s true. |
heywooood | 22-Nov-20 14:51 | Looks like an HVAC unit from the roof of a commercial building..all stuffed into a massive gunfighter |
Don C | 24-Nov-20 15:56 | It's a wonder they had room for the pilot.

jgood | 25-Nov-20 21:02 | Also, I think this is a turbocharger, not a supercharger. Seems like it's just driven by exhaust, not directly from the engine rotation. Crazy looking thing! |
David Duckett | 26-Nov-20 05:26 | Turbocharger. Check! |
