VP46 | 25-Feb-08 18:19 | Success!!!! It flies - it even did fairly well in the wind. I say fair because on the fourth landing it took the sky rose to about 5 feet and was promptly slammed to the ground. :o
It is worth noting each flight ROG from slightly grassy dirt at Rancho San Antonio. :D :D
I made several trips around the pattern and 3 were to a sucessful full stop the fourth was to a full stop but in more of a nose down attiude than the plane liked.
The landing gear worked on the rough surface but the tiny grass heaps that grow in the winter caused it to nose over a few times.
The resulting damage took us out for the day but is easily repaired, see attached pics.
OVERALL I'm completely satisfied with this little plane. I do not think it is too fast at all and I don't think it is overpowered either...it felt just right from that stand point. One con was I think I had the throws on the rudder off - I'm going to move them to the second hole for my next flights. It was a hair squirly due to over compensating - I think it was a combo of pilot error and throw settings on the rudder..
