just got the gilmore fuselage decals from Callie - fast service on the resizing and she got them just right.. Still waiting on the cowling stripes but probably no more than a day or two.

It's just a beautiful design to look at. This image pretty weel shows off the torpedo shape of the fuselage but I'm having a hard time taking a picture that gives a clear sense of the wing shape

The fit and finish is fantastic! Nicely executed.

This is a "top of the line" job of modeling......super well done!

I appreciate the positive feedback, Ed and Robert - I was inspired as usual by the work I see here at VA especially, and by the stories and exploits of this amazing Lockheed design and her pilots

With a painting they say to be at least twice the distance away from it as the longest side to fully see it. With this model that would mean be 5' away. The further away from it, the more of it will be seen. It's also a good idea to photograph it against a background that does not intrude on the model. That is, clean.

I'll try that when I have the cowling finished and mounted to the Air Express, thank you Dave that would be based on the 30" wingspan then..got it

Wow! That is beautiful! Great job!

Thank you, biplaneguy - the project was a real pleasure to work on. I am wondering if folks have a preference with this aircraft - do you like the look of the Air Express with the cowling, or without it..?
edbecky22-May-20 10:36
It looks great both ways but without we can see the detail you put into the engine.

I agree with edbecky. If I spent that much time and effort on the engine I'd want it seen and appreciated. If the engine had turned out not-as-imagined you could have hidden it under that beautiful cowling and no one would have noticed when the rest of the model is as eye-catching as this one.

Thanks guys - I appreciate the replies. Currently it hangs with the cowling removed. I think I agree (also the cowling could have turned out a bit better than it did...c'est la guerre
