Birch plywood on the cowl?

Yes - wrapped around the infilled section

How did it go wrapping it that tight? I've used it to cover wings, but that's fairly flat.

The method was to first wet it for one minute - wipe off all the water - then wrap it around a wide (2”) tape roll of a diameter slightly less than that of the fuselage and tape it tightly - left overnight. Once the curl was established it was easy to wrap the cowl and pull it tight. I used super glue to fasten the initial edge along the bottom width of the cowl to hold it and keep it from slipping. Then spread titebond wood glue onto the cowl and wrapped the birch ply around while carefully keeping the leading edges aligned. Once it was tight and aligned I applied a line of the CYA adhesive to the seam on the bottom to ensure it would not ‘relax’ - no clamps were needed.

Also - you need to pay attention to the direction of the grain when you want to conform the birch ply to any curved surface

Thanks for the info. I've curved balsa that way. Now there's something new to experiment with.
