I would love to know the history of this aircraft as the markings are for prewar aircraft of VF-6 which flew off USS Enterprise CV-6. But they should be on a Buffalo or Wildcat as "-F-" is for "fighter" (if it was an observation plane it would have an "-O-".) The military used more J-3's than these J-4 coupes so it could just be someone's "tribute" paint job, .. or something else. but I like the look anyway.
