crob | 01-Jul-21 08:52 | Here is my Cub 95 - first balsa model! Long time plastic builder converted over, mostly. 3D printed landing gear and details on the way. |
bobgood | 01-Jul-21 16:55 | Very good work there Crob. I hope that you did'nt build on that super surface there! |
heywooood | 04-Jul-21 14:33 | Looking forward to seeing your progress - so far so good for sure |
crob | 06-Jul-21 11:02 | Thanks for the comments! I've scoured the internet for this and was (am) so impressed by everyone's work here that I had to give it a go for myself. Inspiration for sure!
I have a long list of my favorite aircraft that just aren't available in plastic kits and can't wait to start on them.
Clipped wing T-craft, Champ, Pacer, Luscomb, Stinson, J4 and J5 cubs - all of the classic tail draggers you see around airports.

heywooood | 06-Jul-21 22:45 | that's what makes these kits so appealing to me as well - and the detailing you can do with all the extra room in these larger 1/24, 1/18, 1/16th scale models as well |
edtherenderman | 07-Jul-21 08:02 | I'm with heywooood on the larger size gives more room for detail. I've always loved that! Once you feel comfortable with building kits, you may want to think about scratch building. There is a great site called outerzone.co.uk that has thousands of old plans, either ones published in magazines, or kits that are no longer being produced and are not copyright protected. They usually post two new models a day. Some very obscure aircraft out there if that is what you are looking for. Lots of different choices for common aircraft too. |
