jerry campbell | 18-Jun-07 19:32 | Thanks for the build pictures, they convince me to build the P-40B/C soon, next to the 190 it is my favorite a/c (the B/C Tomahawk), ever since I read Flying Tigers by Paul Wheylan (I think that was the author's name) when I was a kid. Any way, thanks for the photos of a really good looking model |
BugEater | 19-Jun-07 00:31 | I read "The Flying Tigers" by John Toland. It made me want to be a P-40 pilot when i was younger. i got the book from my Grandfather, who recently passes (6-13-2007) and will build a B-17 in his memory, the color scheme will match a painting he painted for my older brother. Siemper Fi. |
jerry campbell | 21-Jun-07 11:11 | Bugeater, I believe I made an error, the book I read as a kid was By Russel Whelan published in 1942. It was not a researched historical treatise, but a rather juvenile wartime narrative of valor and courage in the face of horrendous odds. Inspiring to a kid of 12 or 13. Because of it I built several Monogram Structo-Speed P-40s during the early 50s. |
poppy | 26-Jun-07 09:52 | Hooray for Structo-speed. Kits taught me a lot about working with wooden kits. Good job, jernst. |
