The rudder is just barely taped on...Spanish military aircraft still have the same black X on a white background, unless painted in a low visibility scheme. |

Looks great as usual. I like the color scheme and markings. Only Spanish plane I've seen on the Aerodrome. |

Thanks, it's probably the only one which will ever be here. When I went to Spain in 1960 the Spanish were flying the F-86. :-) |

Nearly. They were in the natural aluminum with yellow and red roundels and the same black X on a white background on the rudder. This 109 is painted with just black and white, and mixtures thereof, and unlike the FW-190, no silver is being used. |

The Spanish were still flying their Junkers Ju 52s at the time, as well. |

Most of the ME-109s still flying are based on Spanish-built versions. Many were bought from Spain to film "The Battle of Britain", along with a few Ju-88s.I think they even used a Spanish Ju-52 in that movie as well. The main difference between them and the German version was their engine was upright, with the cylinder heads on top, whereas the Me-109 use an inverted engine, with the heads on the bottom. It's easy to notice the shift in the exhaust ports. CORRECTION: Not Ju-88s, but HE-111s. For the movie the production crew bought 50 HE-111s. No CGI in those days. Just the real things. |

The ME 109 had the first inline fuel ejection system in order to keep the engine running smoothly because it was inverted. One of the reasons its prefromance was grate.Seen it on a show wings of combat. |
